Coconut Day Festival Goa : A Ritual with Profound Moral

My life as a journalist is quiet promising and interesting too. Friends! I have noticed lots of ups and down in my career and it would remain throughout the time till I am in this profession. No regrets! Since I love challenges! Although my career provides me tougher times but I am a fun loving person who love to explore his city, Goa with great zeal. Most of the people take Goa as the destination of lovely beaches. But for me it is the other side of life.

People keep on running for money and fame throughout their life. They forget to live their life to fullest. Now see the people of Goa! Their quest for living the life fully is ongoing. So what if they are busy with their daily earning, but they too know how to experience the moments. One instance of their animated life is the Coconut Day festival in Goa which tends to take place in the month of Shravan. People on this day offer coconuts to the Lord of the Sea.

We have the habit of seeing the rituals in the other way. But to be honest, I believe that rituals have some profound implications of their own. They leave moral behind them. So is the Coconut Day Festival in Goa. It is the symbol of protection as it happens to fall on the day of Rakhi Purnima. Being the part of Goan culture I strongly believe in these rituals and enjoy too. It is also a green signal to fishing season. The day is filled with fun activities. Coconut breaking and climbing coconut trees are some of the displayed activities which the tourists love to witness.

Dishes and handicrafts of coconut are made on this day to please the people of Goa and outside. It showcases the economy of the state too. I try not to miss this event, if my profession allows me. Otherwise I am a free bird, ready to take off to my land of fun! Adventure is in my blood and I am passionate of bike riding on the seashore of my hometown.
